VilVite - Bergen Science Centre

In many countries, science centers play a central role in promoting research, especially amongst children and young people. This is now an important point of focus in Norway, so that science centres will become important assets in the recruitment of young people to scientific subjects. There are more than 3500 science centers throughout the world. How did Bergen manage to establish one which is unique?

The science centre VilVite distinguishes itself by its unique connection to Bergen and western Norway through the Western Norwegian landscape, sea stack formations, weather and energy. The solution creates involvement and opens up new perspectives about research and scientific subjects, in a way that allows the visitors to experience, discover and solve challenges. The aim is to invite visitors to interact and hence to motivate them to further learning within technology and science. Together with the Bergen company Fuggibaggi, Expology have developed a visual platform and a unique method of communicating their message.

The 2,700m2 centre opened at Marineholmen in the spring of 2007 and includes exhibitions, conference rooms, a shop and a café.

The main target groups are children and young people, but families and tourists also visit VilVite for inspiration!
